Installation Engineering Brief

Pin and Pad Mounting

Nearly all Atlantic Towers custom arches and custom hardtops use a Pin and Pad connection developed over more than 25 years. This two-part mounting method supports everything from standard structures through large tuna tower installations.

Why This Mounting System Is Used

Atlantic Towers structures are engineered to be inherently rigid, so they do not depend on flat welded pads for stiffness. The Pin and Pad approach introduces controlled flexibility at the interface, which helps isolate wind- and machinery-induced vibration from gel coat contact points.

In practice, this reduces the chance of gel coat cracking or crazing around the mounting bases while preserving secure structural connection under load.

  • Supports a wide range of Atlantic Towers structures, including larger custom assemblies.
  • Nylon-bushed hardware helps decouple transmitted vibration from fiberglass surfaces.
  • Two-part fitting allows easy dismount by removing 3/8" stainless bolts.
  • Compatible with hinge-kit upgrade paths for fold-down bridge, highway, or storage clearance.
